Middle School
Middle School provides students with a balanced and well-articulated curriculum that builds on the knowledge base begun in the Elementary School and provides them with the appropriate prerequisites for High School. The curriculum is challenging, but manageable, for students of average to high ability. The core curriculum consists of English, history, foreign language, math, and science.
There is an increasing emphasis on ICT integration among subject areas. Differences in ability and learning styles are accommodated primarily within the classroom.
Students are assessed continuously in all subjects throughout the academic year. Trimester grades are based on multiple assessments. Percentages are used when calculating grades. They are then converted to appropriate letter grades.
Assessments can include, but are not limited to, tests and quizzes, written essays or reports, presentations, video or performance pieces, models or art pieces, debates or students teaching their peers within a topic.
Report Cards are issued 3 times a year at the end of every trimester. Report Cards provide information on the academic progress made by students.
Students and parents are able to keep track of performance and course resources using our school LMS
Middle School classes are taught by a team of caring and dedicated educators who believe in the development of the whole student, and who work to know each one both inside and outside of the classroom. In addition to being highly qualified in their subject areas, these teachers have chosen to teach Middle School children, because they understand and enjoy working with this age group.
They are a cohesive and collegial faculty that work well with students and parents. In their effort to produce well-rounded, independent, and confident individuals, teachers expose students to a variety of subjects and teaching styles.
